Consoles of the 80s

Here’s some nostalgic gaming goodness to help ease the wait for our next podcast. Check out this GamesRadar feature of an insanely comprehensive list of gaming Consoles of the 80s. Yeah, this is kinda old, but I think that’s the point. I’ve never heard of some of these machines, but among the ones I played the most are the NES of course, Apple IIe, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy. The article also contains lists of Consoles of the 70s, 90s, and 2000s. So what are some of your favorites?

Just a quick note, the next podcast will be available tomorrow, as scheduled. w00t!

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m still rockin’ the Atari 2600.

You can’t beat the old basketball game on 2600. Remember that one? It was basically one-on-one hoops with two stick figure dudes running around dribbling a square basketball.

Oh, and what about the football game on 2600. The one in which the defensive team could blitz the QB and if you didn’t get there in time, you could go ahead and run your player off the screen behind the QB only to pop in on the other side of the screen to try for an interception. Those are two of the classic games that I remember from my days playing the 2600.

You got that right, Turd. Actually, the 2600 marks the dawn of my video gaming career. So many good times with that machine. Heh, back when my dad could actually beat me in video games. The only sports games I remember are baseball and football, but no, I never cheated. My QB could actually run around the world in a few seconds :D We’ll definitely have to do a show featuring some of our favorite Atari games.

My dad and I loved Dragster and Blackjack. We broke a few controllers with Dragster b/c you have to practically slap the joystick to change gears! Hm…..fun stuff.

Whoa! Don’t remember those games at all. Looks like it’s time to load up the ol’ emulator and check it out.
